| This game has never given good performance on my 2.17 GHz 17" MacBook Pro, but the 1.03d update boosted the framerate significantly, making most of the game's motion smooth for the first time. However, some areas are still choppy, and the intermittent crashes during cutscene conversations have not gone away. It's worth updating, but hopefully a future version will fix the crashing once and for all. |

| I'm using a Macbook with the intel 950 graphics, which I don't think meets the requirements for KOTOR. I have the graphics set to the lowest setting and the game is very playable, but it crashes occasionally. However, I have not been able to get into the Undercity, so far. The program crashes every time. |

The game doesn't get paste the loading bar for create a new character, even with the Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1. the patch just crashes on open. Does anyone know what to do? |

MacBook Pro User (7/19/2007 - version 1.0.3d) |
| Waited for this patch to run KOTOR on my Intel MacBookPro C2D 2.33GHz 17". Works well and, yes, the Dantooine mess-up is "cured" with this patch for me. Put all video settings to highest and the game works well, no problems. Game loads much faster and runs smoother than on my old PowerBook 15" 1GHz. |

| With the Binary Patch, there is no lag at all- even on Datooine. There are semi-frequent crashes and audio glitches, but they are do to flaws in the game engine, not the patch or Mac port.

| This patch broke the game even more for me. I thought that things would be different on my new Mac Pro, but nope. Same graphical problems especially on Dantooine, except with patch 1.0.3c, I get the added bonus of unexpected quits.
HOWEVER... two things have changed this game (and my life) in a deep and profound way. First, I downgraded back to 1.0.3b (hard to find, but it's out there. Do a search.) That fixed the quitting problem. Second, I read somewhere that if you use TextEdit or something to open the swkotor.ini file (home folder -> Library -> Preferences -> Knights of the Old Republic) and add the line "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1" (without the quotes) under the Graphics Options section, it will fix some issues. I did that, and I've not had a problem since, I can run all over Dantooine, no problems.
I am now loving this old game. The deeper you get, the better it gets. I hope this helps. |
