I've always believed that Avara had the most sensible and efficient system for playing online, though unfortunately there are only about 10 people who play online anymore. True. it isn't much to look at at all (though the engine has alot of unexploited potential), but I find it superior in a few ways to every other FPS ever made: 1) It's the only FPS I've played where you can aim in any direction without affecting your movement (like Robotron 2084 in 3D) and 2) it proves that you don't need 15 different guns to kill people. And 3) it prove you don't need good graphics to have a good game. I reccomend it if you are looking for something different and are willing to play in 0S 9 or Classic. Also, if you are thinking about making your own FPS, you could get some valuable tips from Avara. An often overlooked example of innovation and techincal programming brilliance.   Evan (3/31/2005 - version 1.0.1) it was revolutionary, but really, althouhg it was brilliant back in the day, the FPSes of today are simply l33ter. I am not going to take into account this was made in 1998 or something, I really do not care.   Bflat (3/21/2001 - version 1.0.1) Avara's appeal can somtimes be tough to nail down. The graphics are unappealing, and the learning curve for new players can be steep for internet play. However, what it lacks in graphics is made up for substantially in Avara's gameplay...it is outstanding! It is exceptional as an internet game. I have a drawer full of old mac games at home. Avara is the only game I've kept playing for more than two years. Avara=good gameplay.   Avara 1.0.1
